105 Colors That Start With J

Looking for colors that start with J? This atlas gives you 105 supported names, from Jacaranda and Jade to Jungle Green and Jute, with copy-ready HEX and RGB values. You will also see which references are creative catalog names, why one name can have several codes, and how to turn selected J colors into workable palettes.

105 Colors That Start With J

The main atlas contains 105 distinct display names. Most are non-standard names from a curated digital color catalog, so each HEX code belongs to that particular catalog association rather than defining a universal color. The list is ordered alphabetically after spaces, punctuation, and capitalization are ignored.

Jazz Berry Jam and Jazzberry Jam are retained because the catalog records the exact display names separately and assigns them different HEX values. The spacing does not make either name a standard, so keep each spelling paired with its listed code rather than treating the two records as interchangeable.

How to Read the Atlas

HEX controls the digital swatch

Every six-digit HEX value in the atlas represents three sRGB channels: red, green, and blue. For example, Jade at #00A86B converts to RGB 0, 168, 107. The RGB field and visible table cell are derived from that same HEX value, so the three representations agree.

You can paste a HEX value into design software or use it as a numeric CSS color, such as color: #00A86B;. That does not make “Jade” a recognized CSS keyword. It simply tells the browser which sRGB channel values to display.

What the status labels mean

Creative catalog means the name-to-HEX pairing comes from a curated digital naming collection. It is useful for finding, discussing, and organizing colors, but it is not an official standard. Manufacturer record means a manufacturer independently publishes the exact name and digital value. Java #259797 is one such record, although the manufacturer still advises checking a physical sample rather than relying solely on a screen.

The label Creative value; Crayola name applies to Jazzberry Jam and Jungle Green. Those names appear in Crayola’s current color families, but the HEX values in this table belong to the digital catalog and should not be treated as measurements of crayons, markers, or paint.

Historical dictionaries form another evidence class. For example, the US National Bureau of Standards published Color: Universal Language and Dictionary of Names as Special Publication 440 in 1976. A historical listing, a manufacturer formula, and a modern creative catalog can legitimately use different methods and references.

Why CMYK is omitted

CMYK values are meaningful only in a defined printing workflow. Printer, ink, paper, and the selected ICC profile all affect the result, and some screen colors fall outside a particular printer’s gamut. A generic CMYK conversion would therefore suggest a level of certainty the atlas cannot provide.

For print work, begin with the HEX reference, convert it using the printer’s requested ICC profile, and inspect a proof on the intended stock. Exact agreement between a glowing display and reflected ink on paper is not always possible.

Why J Color Names Can Have Different HEX Codes

Same name, different catalog

A color name is a label, not a complete color specification. Jasmine, Jonquil, and Jordy Blue illustrate the point: two opened catalogs associate each name with different digital coordinates.

colors that start with j — Material studyAI-generated editorial illustration; not a measured color sample.

Qualified referenceHEXRGBColorCatalog context
Jasmine (meodai catalog)#FFF4BB255, 244, 187 meodai catalog
Jasmine (SpyColor catalog)#F8DE7E248, 222, 126 SpyColor catalog
Jonquil (meodai catalog)#EEF293238, 242, 147 meodai catalog
Jonquil (SpyColor catalog)#FADA5E250, 218, 94 SpyColor catalog
Jordy Blue (meodai catalog)#7AAAE0122, 170, 224 meodai catalog
Jordy Blue (SpyColor catalog)#8AB9F1138, 185, 241 SpyColor catalog

Neither catalog becomes universal merely because it publishes a value. When accuracy matters, record both the name and the code. “Jasmine #FFF4BB” is actionable; “Jasmine” by itself leaves room for interpretation.

Digital color versus physical color

A screen creates color by emitting light. Paint, ink, dyed fabric, minerals, and gemstones appear colored because they reflect or transmit parts of the light falling on them. Surface texture, gloss, opacity, illumination, surrounding colors, and the material itself can all change what you see.

Use these swatches for digital planning, mockups, and communication. For a physical project, compare real samples under the lighting where the finished piece will be used. A HEX code is not a paint-mixing ratio, dye recipe, pigment identity, or guarantee that two products bearing the same name will match.

Practical Palettes Using J Colors

These palettes repeat existing atlas references and do not add to the 105-name count. The roles describe how much visual space each color can occupy, not a fixed formula: dominant colors establish the field, supporting colors create separation, and accents draw attention.

Botanical greens

NameHEXRGBColorRole
Japanese Laurel#2F753247, 117, 50 Dominant
Julep Green#C7DBD9199, 219, 217 Supporting
Jurassic Gold#E7AA56231, 170, 86 Accent

Japanese Laurel can anchor a garden-themed layout or painted pattern, while pale Julep Green opens up the background. Use Jurassic Gold sparingly on borders, small shapes, or focal details.

Warm floral colors

NameHEXRGBColorRole
Jasmine#FFF4BB255, 244, 187 Dominant
Joyful Poppy#EBADA5235, 173, 165 Supporting
Jalapeno Red#B2103C178, 16, 60 Accent

The pale Jasmine field keeps this combination light, Joyful Poppy adds a softer transition, and Jalapeno Red supplies a concentrated focal color. It suits floral graphics, invitations, and craft patterns where the deep red occupies the smallest area.

Dark jewel tones

NameHEXRGBColorRole
Japanese Indigo#26434838, 67, 72 Dominant
Jewel Cave#3C417360, 65, 115 Supporting
Jazzberry Jam#A50B5E165, 11, 94 Accent

Japanese Indigo and Jewel Cave create a low-light base with a subtle shift from blue-green to blue-violet. Jazzberry Jam provides the warmer accent, making it useful for buttons, motifs, or isolated highlights.

Palette roles do not automatically make a text combination accessible. Check the actual foreground and background pair at its intended size and weight. WCAG 2.2 calls for at least 4.5:1 contrast for normal text and 3:1 for large text, defined as 18-point regular or 14-point bold.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are any J colors valid CSS named-color keywords?

No current CSS named-color keyword begins with J. Use a numeric value such as #00A86B, an RGB function, or another supported CSS color notation instead of writing jade as though it were a browser keyword.
