Colors That Start With K: 240 Names and HEX Codes

Colors that start with K include subdued earth tones, fresh greens, deep blues, and bright warm accents. This atlas gives you 240 distinct K-initial color names with matching HEX, RGB, and screen swatches. It also identifies the one CSS keyword in the list and explains how to use the remaining catalog names accurately.

K Colors at a Glance

Many color names begin with K, but they do not all have the same status. In this atlas, Khaki at #F0E68C is the only standardized CSS named-color keyword that starts with K. Every other main-list name is a creative catalog label from the pinned color-name-list v14.47.0 dataset, not a universal color standard.

How to Read the K-Color Atlas

Download the complete color reference sheet (PNG): How to Read the K-Color Atlas (PNG) · Color atlas 1 · Color atlas 2 · Color atlas 3 · Color atlas 4 · Color atlas 5 · Color atlas 6 · Color atlas 7

The pinned catalog snapshot contains 361 K-initial rows. This atlas retains 240 distinct names after removing duplicate spellings, unsupported vendor or fictional-property labels, and lower-value alternatives. Display spellings preserve the catalog’s diacritics, while sorting ignores spaces, punctuation, case, and accents.

Colors That Start With K

Each row uses one six-digit HEX value as its controlling digital reference. The RGB value and visible swatch are derived from that code. These are opaque sRGB screen references, not measured paint, pigment, dye, textile, ink, food, mineral, or print samples. Romanized and international-looking labels reproduce catalog wording only and do not assert a traditional meaning or material match.

Colors That Start With K: A to Z Atlas

The four tables form one continuous alphabetized list. Khaki uses the CSS value; all other rows use the pinned creative catalog association. When a catalog name is not a CSS keyword, copy its HEX value rather than expecting a browser to recognize the name.

A Practical K-Color Shortlist

A long catalog helps with discovery, but a smaller working set makes palette decisions faster. These groups describe visual roles, not fixed meanings or a ranking of the best K colors.

colors that start with k — Material studyAI-generated editorial illustration; not a measured color sample.

Neutrals and Earth Tones

CSS Khaki #F0E68C supplies a light yellow-beige base. Kabul #6C5E53 and Kelp Brown #716246 move into subdued brown-gray territory, while Kobicha #6B4423 and Kobe #882D17 provide deeper brown and red-brown options. For a pale background, Kefir #D5D5CE is cooler and less yellow than Khaki.

Use these as screen references. For a wall, textile, or painted object, compare a real product sample in the setting where it will be used.

Greens and Blue-Greens

Kelly Green #339C5E is a balanced medium green, Keppel #5FB69C leans toward blue-green, and Kiwi Green #8EE53F is lighter and more yellow. Kombu Green #3A4032 is a dark supporting color, while Katydid #66BC91 offers a softer middle value.

Compare the swatches side by side and choose by hue, lightness, and contrast with the surrounding colors rather than by name alone.

Warm Accent Colors

Kumquat #FB9942, Koji Orange #F6AD49, and Kanzō Orange #FF8936 are bright warm accents. For a redder direction, consider Karaka Orange #F04925, Kurenai Red #D7003A, or the darker Kirsch #B2132B. Test any accent against nearby text and detailed imagery.

Dark and High-Impact Colors

Konkikyō Blue #191F45 and Kon #192236 are dark blue options. Kokushoku Black #171412 and Kuroi Black #14151D sit near black, while Kyanite #1560FB and Kind Magenta #FF1DCE provide saturated accents. A dark-looking background does not automatically provide sufficient text contrast, so test the exact foreground and background pair.

Which K Color Names Are Standardized?

A CSS named color is a keyword defined for use in web styles. A creative catalog name is a human-readable label paired with a color value by that catalog. Both can help a designer communicate, but only the standardized keyword has a browser-defined value.

CSS Khaki Versus Catalog Khaki

The clearest example is Khaki. CSS defines the token khaki as #F0E68C. The pinned creative catalog records a darker, browner Khaki at #C3B091. The main atlas gives priority to the CSS value, while this comparison preserves both source-qualified associations.

NameHEXRGBColor
Khaki (CSS)#F0E68C240, 230, 140
Khaki (creative catalog)#C3B091195, 176, 145

For the standard browser color, write color: khaki; or use #F0E68C. Labels such as Kelly Green and Kombu Green are not CSS named-color tokens, so use their selected HEX codes instead.

Why Familiar Names Can Have Different HEX Values

A color name does not always identify one universally fixed digital value. Catalogs can assign different references to the same familiar label, and color vocabularies can change across place and time. Record the source and HEX value whenever consistency matters.

Human-readable names may contain spaces, punctuation, and diacritics. CSS named-color tokens do not contain spaces. The full established name also controls alphabetic inclusion: International Klein Blue is not counted here because it begins with I, not K.

How to Use K Colors in Digital Design

HEX Controls the Digital Swatch

Copy the complete six-digit HEX code when you need the exact digital reference shown here. In #339C5E, the three hexadecimal pairs specify the red, green, and blue components of an opaque sRGB color. The name is a convenient label; the code is the reproducible digital instruction.

Screen Color Is Not a Paint Formula

An sRGB value describes a digital screen reference. It does not provide a universal formula for paint, pigment, dye, or printing ink and cannot guarantee a physical match. For physical work, use the relevant product sample, measured specification, or print proof instead of treating a HEX value as a recipe.

Check Text Contrast Separately

Text readability depends on the relative luminance of the actual foreground and background colors, not on whether a swatch is called light, dark, green, or khaki. For WCAG Level AA, normal text needs a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1. The 3:1 threshold applies only to large text, defined as at least 18pt regular or 14pt bold.

Calculate the exact pair and do not round a failing value up to the threshold. Check text, icons, and controls in each state in which they appear.
