WHY CRAFT ART WOOD COUNTERTOPS ARE WATERPROOF

Why is a Craft Art wood counter waterproof you ask? Well, we’ll tell you in one word: finish.

Our finish, Waterlox’s modified Tung oil finish, seals the pores of your wood countertop meaning water can’t soak in. Water and other liquids just sit on the surface and “bead up”. Because the pores are sealed, Craft Art wood countertops are also extremely stain resistant. But don’t use bleach or ammonia! We start with a tung oil. And then, it is modified with a phenolic resin to provide even better chemical and water resistance. Our finish (Waterlox) is very close to the same surface coating on High Pressure Laminates (e.g., Formica).  HPL is a phenolic, as well. So, you get the NATURAL beauty of wood with the water and chemical resistance STRENGTH of phenolic resin. And it’s FOOD SAFE!

SO, WHAT DOES THAT MEAN TO YOU?
